Vasectomy in Manchester

At Stock Surgery, we provide expert vasectomy services to Manchester patients, ensuring a safe, effective, and stress-free experience.

Are you considering a vasectomy in Manchester but looking for a more affordable and professional alternative? I’m Dr. Acorn, and I’ve been providing expert vasectomy services at Stock Surgery in Essex since 2008. With over 15 years of experience in vasectomy procedures and a medical career that spans more than three decades, I offer a high-quality, pain-free alternative to the NHS that’s worth travelling for.

What is a Vasectomy?

A vasectomy is a simple, minor surgical procedure that offers a permanent method of male contraception. It involves blocking or cutting the vas deferens (the tubes that carry sperm), preventing sperm from reaching the semen. This highly effective method of contraception liberates your sex-life, removing the stress of contraceptive failure and allows you to enjoy long-term freedom without relying on temporary methods like condoms or hormonal interventions.

Why Choose My Vasectomy Service?

Cost-Effective Alternative

Many men in Manchester and surrounding areas find that opting for a private vasectomy procedure at Stock Surgery in Essex is more affordable than what’s offered locally, even through the NHS. Our prices are competitive, offering excellent value for a procedure carried out in a state-of-the-art facility.

Expert Care

I qualified as a doctor in 1988 at the London Hospital Medical College and became a GP in 1992. Since 1995, I’ve been a GP partner at Stock Surgery. My particular interest in surgery led me to establish a dedicated vasectomy clinic in 2008. Over the years, I have built a reputation for providing meticulous and compassionate care, with patients travelling from across the UK and even internationally from places like the UAE and Thailand to access my services.

Professional, Pain-Free Procedure

My clinic at Stock Surgery is designed to provide a hospital-like environment with the comfort and convenience of a community setting. The surgical facility is purpose-built to ensure the highest standards of care, including:

  • Coved single-surface flooring to minimise infection risks.
  • Positive pressure ventilation with HEPA filtration to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Sensor taps and suction filtration to ensure maximum hygiene during procedures.

I use the latest techniques to ensure the procedure is as quick and pain-free as possible, with minimal recovery time. Many of my patients report experiencing very little discomfort both during and after the procedure.

Our Vasectomy Procedure

We specialise in the no-scalpel vasectomy, a minimally invasive technique that reduces pain, bleeding, and recovery time. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Initial Consultation
During your first visit, our experts will discuss your medical history, explain the procedure in detail and help you decide if a vasectomy is right for you. You can expect this call within 3 working days of your enquiry.
  2. The Procedure
    • Performed under local anaesthesia, the operating site is rendered free from sensing discomfort before proceeding
    • A small puncture is made to access the vas deferens.
    • The tubes are blocked or sealed, preventing sperm from entering the semen.
    • The procedure typically takes 10 minutes.
  3. Recovery and Aftercare
    • You can return home typically 30 minutes after arriving
    • In the first 2 days you should mainly rest, sitting with feet up. It is fine to travel to your office and to do office work
    • Wait for 2 full weeks before doing strenuous exercise or heavy lifting
    • You will likely feel you have made a full recovery within a week; specific aftercare instructions are provided to ensure optimal healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a vasectomy reversible?

While vasectomy reversal is possible, it’s a complex procedure and often fails to restore fertility. For this reason patients should consider a vasectomy as a permanent decision.

No, a vasectomy does not impact sexual performance, erections, or the volume/ sensation of ejaculation. It often improves sex-life, giving a positive feeling of liberation as sex is no longer tied to the worries of contraceptive failure.

A vasectomy is not immediately effective. Sperm will still be present in your semen for a short period after the procedure. You will need to have a test at 16 weeks  to confirm it’s safe to stop using other contraception. The cost of the test is within the price of the vasectomy.
